That's the first Viper I've ever wanted...

I have to say I'm surprised to see Dodge make something like this and I hope it reflects a move towards cars that can actually handle corners.

The "only" 600hp statement bothers me a bit. This motor will abolutely wake up with intake, headers, exhaust, and a tune. I would be shocked if it couldn't make 650hp with just those mods.

A very cool ride indeed.
Vipers have always been fast track cars with better brakes. Since the Gen3 got brembos they have been great track cars right out the box. The frame is very rigid, the engine is very durable, and the handling is very neutral. I'm not sure why you think only this one can 'handle corners'.

The 'only' 600 is hp is a joke because viper dorks are complaining because it only has the same HP as the standard coupe. They are missing the point of all the track goodies.

if that car had 400 hp it would still be a badass track car.

if this wasnt from a reputable source i would think that article was too good to be true. 1000 freaking lbs of downforce? (mister slave voice) ooooooh jesus christ.

Every review I've read says that the pre-ACR Viper already handles better than the Z06, which is criticized as being too loose. Vipers have also done well in both SCCA road racing and autocross competition.

The thing is, I would bet money that 99% of the people whining about how it "only" has 600 horsepower have never driven anything with 450+ horsepower...

yeah but only 600 hp out of a whopping 8.3 liters that is NOT efficient.

you would think with all that displacement, youd get more power.

the s2000 has a hp/liter ratio of 120/1 ..... if the viper shared the same efficiency, it would have roughly 996 hp!

Horsepower per liter veers it's ugly head into yet another topic.
When I'm getting pulled by 350Z's, what comes to mind isn't "well, hah!, my engine is more efficient than yours!!" or "I get better gas mileage than you!!", or "my seatbelt is more comfortable than yours!" ---> all trivial

HP per Liter is a ricer's way to save dignity after he gets his ass handed to him.
