Default Nissan 350Z

Well today i went to my local Nissan dealership to see if they got in a 350Z. Well they did, they got in a silver one. And all i have to say is that I LOVE IT!!! I saw pictures of it and i thought it was nice, but wasnt in love with the front, but when i saw it in person, i fell in love. I really like it very much. The one they had was an automatic (it was sold), but it was the track version. I dont think it had the bigger wheels, and it didnt have the brembo brakes, the price was 33,000 (didnt say anything about a dealer mark up). The car has a presence. Well, all i have to do is drive it

I don't think the Track version is available in an automatic, and two of the options that make a Track a Track are the larger Rays wheels and the Brembo brakes. Plus, I'm pretty sure that the base MSRP on the Track is more than $33k...more like $34k. Could be wrong though.

yea i thought that the track version came stick only, with the brembo's and the wheels, maybe it was a different model. Well, i still think its a great looking car. As far as how it drives? i dont know YET.

Funny, went to the dealership yesterday to check one out as well, and came to a completely different conclusion.

The car was the track version, Daytona blue with most options. MSRP was $37K with the dealer adding on another $5K of ransom.

The blue was a nice color, made me wonder once again what the heck AHM is thinking not bringing in Monte Carlo Blue to the US. Looked nice with the gold Brembo calipers and lightweight forged alloys (I think Rays?). The back looks heavy, ponderous, *not* a timeless sexy shape at all. The interior was the biggest disappointment. It was like sitting in a cavern of cheap plastic. Really a letdown.

My conclusion was while I'm sure the performance of the engine was sweet (no test drives...), the car styling, both interior and exterior, was nothing to get excited about. Really a disappointment, as the original 240Z was a car that really tripped my trigger, as they say.

It seems the 350Z took many more queues from the overweight, overpriced, overstyled 300ZX than Datsun's 240Z. In fact some of the spy/photoshop shots of the Honda S2200 coupe reminds me in styling and character much more of the original Z than the new Nissan.

Heck, if I want lots of performance at a low price without as much regard to exterior styling and interior finish, I'd buy an '03 Mustang SVT or a Z06!

I also noticed that while the brakes where Brembo's, nicely plated gold, they where only two-pot brembo's.

I loved the car so much, i went back to see it. I took pictures this time. It turns out that it is the touring version. The sales person said that the s2000 is smaller and is less safe than the 350Z, the 350Z has instant power, the s2000 has to be pushed very hard to get performance out of it. Enjoy.

The track model has 4 piston Brembo's up front and 2 piston Brembo's in the rear. Same setup as on the R34 GTR (as well as WRX STi and EVO 7). I'd expect to see the same setup on the upcoming RX-8, too. The Japanese love their Brembo's, and who can blame them? I wish the S2000 had Brembo's stock.

Our NSX meet last night had a new Blue 350Z Track with DVD Navigation and a 6 speed. A Skyline was there too, it had the same brake set up from Brembo. It will be a love it or hate it design for some. I don't think I can rest my elbow on the door sill/window while driving, it sits too low and the doors are too high up.
