Is the NSX a joke or what?
If Honda doesn't up the HP in the next S2000 it will be sad.
After 7 years no mods what so ever except tiny little adjustments.
Even the NSX in 1997 got a boost in HP! (I think)
The NSX has been more updated than the S2000: Even more sad.
Heck, there was an NSX type R. Where's the S2000 type R? 150 pounds lighter, 15 more HP, tighter suspension. Come on!

I hear where you are coming from. My thoughts are that the s2k has always been held back in horsepower because Honda didnt want it to come too close to or outperform the nsx. If they let that happen then the s2k at 1/3 of the price would essentially cannibalize the nsx. The nsx was eventually discontinued last year as we know, but at this point I am sure the redesign project for the s2k had already begun.
There actually was a special variant of the s2k that was created. I believe it was called Type V. Honda focused on improving the steering and handling though (once again no upping the horsepower)--but saddly it was another one of their great products that was never intended for the U.S.
I am excited to see what both the new s2k and "nsx successor" will look like. Honda usually doesnt brag about their upcoming cars, so the mere fact that they are touting the nsx successor as a world beater really tells me it should be a great product. But of course they are not giving away too many specs -- that would make it easy for the compettition to mimic or trump them. I personally prefer to wait and be pleasantly surprised

Yeah, thats a nice bragging point to draw in the sale...SAME POWER as 8 years ago!
Or we could drop a hemi into it. You know it's a sports car, not a muscle/drag car, right? Better P/W ratio should be a strong selling point to sports car buyers.

Keep the HP the same, just make it drop some weight

i really don't think honda can drop the weight of the s2k any further without going to expensive light weight materials and/or stripping the car further of amenities (which is close to bare minimum already). both methods will further limit the s2k consumer market which is sparse as is.

and have cars that are 1/3 of the price making the same amount of HP is really a good selling point.
