Honda is working on a VTEC V6 engine of between 3.5 to 3.7 litres, while the twin electric motor set-up will be powered by lithium-ion batteries and employ a plug-in recharge system for a small electric-only range. The result will be huge amounts of torque, but also the high-revving character Hondas are famous for.

Interesting. Hopefully it will have a lot more than 400 hp. Even Mustangs & Camaros have 400+ hp these days, and I wouldn't be surprised of the next iteration of the 370Z & GEnesis coupes do as well. It says in the article it will be priced around the GTR, so assume $100,000. It would probably be a natural competitor to the Audi R8 4.2, which has 430 hp or the upcoming 991 Carrera S w/ 400 hp.

This is what Honda needs, an exciting car. As long as they change the very front of that thing I'm sure they will have a winner. Now all they need is an affordable 2 seater roadster that is wedge shaped......

Honda CEO Takanobu Ito recently hinted at the NSX’s revival, when he revealed: “We’re making progress with plans for an exotic sports car.” And six months ago, Ito said Honda was keen to relaunch a high-performance sports car like the NSX.

Yep, just as I said 3 years ago, Honda was just waiting for the world economy to pick up a little (even though it's still in the shitter for now) before producing another supercar. In addition, Honda will not sit still while its 2 other Japanese competitors have supercars. It ain't gonna happen!

Total load of crap reminiscent of "Temple Of VTEC" so-called news. According to the article there is a mid-mounted V6 but plug-in batteries powering the front wheel drive. It's got an engine fully capable of powering the car but yo have to plug it in after every trip. In a car not fundamentally different than a concept from ten+ years ago. Really?

Does not anyone see this as a virtual "copy-paste" BS job mixing the features of several cars rather than a sensible rundown of something actually on the horizon?

Yeah, Honda is going to release a plug-in electric car with a gasoline V6 in 2014. And it's going to be a "supercar." Whatever.
