although i dont find the redo amazing, and i also hear alot of flak about the grille, i think the whole concept of the front grille is good, it gives the brand an instantly recognizable lineup and provides similar styling cues across the line so as to connect the cars...
I gotta say, I don't think Audi needs MORE "similar styling cues across the line." This was not a problem for them. They already had TOO MUCH. One thing I have always hated about Audis is that I can't tell them apart except by looking at the model designation on the trunk.
What they needed was to come up with a little more diversity in their fascias, and trust in that huge Audi logo to remind people of the brand. This new grille was a mistake in my opinon, and makes the cars look more like Volvos. Not a move in the right direction.
I hate the new front end styling. And I don't buy the common brand theme, I mean my car looks like and A4/A6 from the front, just a whole lot wider.. everyone knows its an audi, the new A8 W12 and S8 look just as crappy
Aesthetically, the parts that don't put me to sleep make me want to hurl. That front grill is utterly ridiculous. I don't understand how the designers could have thought that was a move in the right direction.
Sometimes I feel like car designer changing the design of the car just for the sake of changing it, not to make it better.
For example, the new BMW 7 series, 5 series and maybe 3 series (oh no!)
