Older Vipers have unforgivably massive body panel gaps. They look like a straight up kit car (...and let's be honest, that's what they are). The only thing they have going for them is rarity/exclusivity. C5Z/base C6 would be faster, handle better, cost less to maintain, and be a more livable car at close to half the initial purchase cost.

If I were buying a 90s-era car for that exclusivity factor I'd go NSX or Supra TT, personally.

I've never seen the interior of a Viper. That looks very ugly indeed.

The width of the center console cracks me up.

I drove an early 90's Viper once. Literally, it felt like I was driving a UPS truck. The ride felt like a 50's solid beam axle front and rear, shifting felt straight out of a dump truck, and the exhaust sound was flat and UPS truck like. In short, it sucked.

first gen vipers are terrible. Typical american muscle. All motor and no brakes. Handles like crap. Interior is REALLY cheap looking. jm2c

That's the boat I'm in right now, with the NSX. Still, having a Viper would be cool but not so much on the burning my leg on exit thing as well as the interior from a Grand Caravan.

I think Gen 2 coupes are one of the best designs...
They still look good 15-20 years later.

I am a bit biased as i owne one.

The wheels on the 2001-2002 are really nice and super wide. I think it has a 315 rear.....Buy a gen 2.....Female magnet!!

You ever seen the interior of an S2000?

The car isn't about impressing your work buddies with "interior refinements." It's a pretty pure sports car from the ground up. If you whine about the interior you are missing the whole point of the car. Simply put, people who don't like the interior shouldn't buy the car. Doesn't make it bad, just means you don't get it.

The V10 exhaust note can be a valid complaint at idle, but I feel the same way about aftermarket exhausts on Porsche and BMW, so whatever. They all sound pretty good running hard, which is arguably the only time to really care what they sound like.

The appeal of the Viper is that it's definitely not for everyone.
