hmmm....funny stuff...
but I think for a car forum, it is not important to confirm if someone is actually lying about what he owns, or not owns...

the most important is we stay focus on the cars themselve
tech talk and modification, etc...

there are people everywhere like this, so why bother to check about it...
it is not important

**just my 2cents**

I once tried to join a HK car forum,
and I had a MTM modified VW New Beetle, with a US$12000 car stereo installed
so I showed it to them
then I got all these replies that I am lying, and I don't own the thing...
and suggested me to drive the car to let them see it....(why would I want to do that?)
I ended up only tell them to go to the stereo shop to check on it...(that's the best suggestion I can give to the public) and my car was once in the car stereo magazine locally, too.

at the end, I left that forum after just 3days registration because the people really just kids, and don't focus on discussing the vehicles/ technical things.

the funny thing is I also lived in USA before (Texas A&M University) and I tested drove the Trans Am Ram Air (1994/1995 model)
I talked about it in the forum of this HK web site, and I got attacked again.
I found out it is not common in HK to test drive sportscar without actually considering to buy it.
it is very common in USA to do this, as the Trans Am is just a people's car..
it may be difficult to test drive a Porsche or a Ferrari from the dealership...
but I and my friends manage to do that too in early 90's when I was still in USA

I used to drive a Cadillac Coupe Deville in my University life and then switch to a Ford Thunderbird....so the cars do show that my family is quite well
I drove the cars to Porsche dealer (dressed very well, too) and just told the guy I was looking for something fast, a gift from my father for graduation...
and the sales immediately gives me the key for a basic Porsche 911 model

the Ferrari is no luck, because they are really up in heaven...
and they do check the sales record from the family (if you have relative that actually owns a Ferrari),
once you passed this exam, they willl treat you like a king
**my friend tested drove a Testarossa with his boss.
he is a mechanic for his boss's shop, and the son-in-law of the boss owns 3 Ferraris and he's going to give his boss a Ferrari for birthday gift.
so the above is my friend's experience in the Ferrari dealer

for the Lamborghini
my other friend did the trick because he owns many credit cards in his wallet
he went to sit in a Contach, which is not supposed to allow anyone to touch it!
the sales rushed to him very quickly and suggested him to leave the car immediately
he immediately flipped open his wallet and drop out a list of credit card....(about 8)
the sales immediately changed her attitude and went back for the car key....
***talk about human behavior in university major... you can really see alot in car dealership.

anyway, all these things are not possible in HK..
so the people in this HK forum cannot understand that I can actually test a Trans Am Ram Air ....

I left the forum permanently.

I like to go to USA Forum, because most of the forums do not have people like this, the forum really focus on the vehicles...

I can not stand liars. Just be like, "Look man, you work at a freaking video store. Until you actually pull up in the car, I say your full of sh!t." Then just walk off. Sure he probably wont change but at least you do not have to hear him ramble about stupid crap anymore.

I know someone that is a pathological liar, but it wasn't recently that I've heard of this word. Basically, he tells everyone how he owns all these cars, and when we ask him where it is, he says its like "in Japan" or "my ex-girlfriend" has it. Some cars he "has" is a Supra, some Ferarri, and SLR MacLaren, an Evo7, and other cars that nobody's seen before! Even his friends of 8+ years said he's been like this all the time, and they've never seen his cars! Not only that, because he "owns" all these cars, he thinks he knows which cars are good. He's always stuff like saying "the s2000 sucks, my evo can outrun it," and other times, he claims the SLR is a "one-seater" because he drives one! ARGH!

He drives an old 198x Accord 4 door btw, and works at a video game store part time.

WHY DO PEOPLE LIE ABOUT WHAT CARS THEY HAVE (especially to people they know)? Do you guys know anyone who does this too, or is he the only guy in the world like this! (good thing you guys need to enter a VIN to verify real s2ks).
you can meet many people like this from cardomain
(good place to keep one's photos of the cars as it is free, but not a good place to meet car people)
but I think people can tell them apart quickly...

anyway, I don't know why he won't talk about his HONDA too..
I don't know why people are shame at what they own in reality...

every car has a character, and there must be a reason that one is owning/driving it

for me, the most fun car I have ever sat into is a very old 1980s Ford Fiesta, which my friend owned it in South Krea

it has a rust body, damn ugly, the air-condition/heater did not work
but damn, it took us to the ski resort in one of the coolest day at that time....
(we wore as many clothes as possible to keep ourselves from freeziing..)
the whole trip is good memory

I always think it is not how expensive the car you drive, but what your experience with the car at that part of life that counts.

not because you can do 0-60mph in 5sec or less, but it may be you did some crazy shxt with it during a trip...

anyway, I hope my point is clear

One thing you should know about pathological liars is that sometimes they lie so much that even they, themselves, begin to believe in the lies. It's a psychological disorder.

What, you've never heard a guy in a bar tell some chick that he owns a Porsche. Our society is all about wealth. Without wealth you are nothing. So people who don't have it make it up.

And next time he makes a statement like that above tell him to put up or shut up.

Well, I can see how you can lie to a stranger to impress her, but remember, I'm talking about people lying about this in front of people they know. All my friends are sure he's BSing, but we don't wanna say anything against him, because we're not sure about the pyschological stress it may cause (kinda like how you are not supposed to wake somebody up from sleepwalking?).

But the thing is: he is pretty successful in lying to girls about his "cars." Makes me wanna think if I should lie too, haha.
