Yup, been happening a long time. I think it's 99% trucks/suvs. Thieves roll under the car with a battery operated saw. Even older trucks are not safe. Friend had his taken off a mid-90s Toyota PU while in a parking lot at a theater, mid-day. Midas told him they saw about a case a day. I really pity the Tundra owners. I think the new ones have 4 catalytics! See! Having a car low to the ground has other benefits besides looks and handling.

 

The vehicles that people are stealing cats from are mainly toyota trucks since the clearance is so big and the cat is easy to get to. I wouldn't worry about this in the s2000. Unless you have it raised like 10 inches.

 

this happened to a friend of mine back in august. at first he didn't know what it was, sounded like his 4runner was about to explode. thieves

Don't worry about your S2000 cat it is worthless as scrap. The thieves want older cars and SUVs because of the media used in the cat is valuable. An old used cat can fetch $200 plus at a scrap yard.

Most new cars and trucks use a stainless steel corrugated core.

 

My beater has 4, someone please steal them.
