You sir have hit the nail on the head of what I think about all the time!
A lot of people here think I am a domestic hater but to me the domestic style of the last 30 years is kind of pathetic to say the least. There are a group here that thinks the Corvette can do no wrong but while the performance is great the commonness of the car really turns me off and I would rather have a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge in Orbit Orange. That color is almost retina searing hotness! The Judge would attract 100 times more attention than the Vette but the Vette would outrun it or would it? Engine upgrades anyone?
What about the 70 Challenger . To me that car had the greatest style of the muscle car era but why not take one and upgrade it to a 528 Hemi. You could maybe have the best of both worlds .1970 was the year man . AMX,Cuda,Charger,
Roadrunner,442. Now a little foreign style from 1970 -280sl,Maserati Ghibli,Ferrari Daytona . There are 10 cars that are just icons of style from that era that have not been matched in this era . The performance may have been eclipsed by a lot of newer cars but the style has not even come close to making the kind of impact those 10 have in that era. It is hard to point out what the problem is but the only thing I can see is the cars of the muscle era had wild stripes, wild crazy options like air grabber hoods , hood tachs, 2 tone colors or more. And the wildest feature of them all was a horn that sounded like the roadrunner . Wild and crazy could that be it? Now it seems like cars are more aerodynamic jellybeans minus any wildness at all. But then again look at the foreign cars from 70 . They did not need any wild stripes.
Lets take current Toyota for example there are 11 suv/wagon looking vehicles yet not one cool looking 2 door (until the FT-86 shows up) . Houston we have a problem!
It seems that to me that part of the problem is that automakers want each model to try and appeal to everyone and therein lies the solution . Stop trying so hard to appeal to everyone and make more niche models . Didn't the 64 Mustang create a new niche called "Pony cars"? And it sold like hotcakes.
So in the end I can't vote either way . I want a mix of Style, performance, and fun to drive. Oh wait does that describe the S?

i own a 91 civic hatch, looks like it's been through the ringer a few times great performance in all aspects, speed, handling, it surprises the hell out of anyone that dares line up against me

i have one issue with it, every time i drive it, i see my life flash before my eyes, it's like i'm driving a coke can with an engine, the suspension is rock hard, traction is an issue, and if i happen to be driving and it starts raining or the road is wet, she likes to slide in the corners due to limited traction and understeer...........i fell in love immediately

You have to have a balance between the two. And I think that's how I feel about the S2000.

All right ... you win... I Would rather have a car from the 70s that runs 14s than a new car that runs 12s/11s/whatever.

The Miura is probably the only car that gets my dick hard.

This. I would rather have a 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV over a new ZR1, GT2, Murcielago, whatever.... style definately trumps performance for me.

I agree with you, but that doesn't fit within the rules of the thread. He didn't ask, "Would you rather have a fast car that looks good or a really fast car that looks ugly?"

What is your opinion on the matter though?
