I'm a little confused - you have to get rid of an S2000 and a Porsche due to demands of a new family? What'd you have - quintuplets? You're selling off, probably, a minimum of $70K worth of vehicles. I had my first kid last year and I only worked eight months of the year - I haven't had to sell a thing yet (not that I have much).

Just seems rather.....strange.

I'd try to get a Focus or Mazda3. All the focus reliability and recall issues were for the 2000 model only. If you don't get the SVT get the new PZEV, 2.3l 148 hp and 152 ft/lbs of torque in a 2500 pound car, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. There are alot of features that you get on the SVT like mentioned above though. The suspension is all about balance between handling and comfort just like BMW's. The Mazda 3 is on the new Focus platform and has some nice features. Fully loaded Mazda 3 with HID's, Navi, etc. 21K.

The 02 and early 03 SVT Focus cars did have more than their fair share of problems. SVT has worked hard to correct the problems and seemed to get it right just before Ford decided to kill the SVT Focus after 04.

I got a hell of a deal on the car I bought and I'm stunned at how nice it is and how well it drives. Granted I've only driven it 3150 miles and that's not a great test but...

They don't make an STi wagon.

How about a Saab 9-2X? It's a WRX Wagon with a little touch of luxury and a nicer front-end.

wow... maybe you need to check your priorities... you want a cheap fast car, but one that looks good, and doesn't have any problems that anyone would ever write about on the internet?

Cheap
Fast
Reliable
Good Looking

why aren't all cars like this?

WRX would be the only choice I would think....you won't find an STi for 20 gs....period.

It's worth it. The '04 WRX looks fugly with those little 16 inch wheels and that front end. If I were in the market, I could definitely find another $5K to buy a better looking version of the car I wanted.

If he's worried about price, he doesn't have to get the 9-2X turbo version.

4 door pocket rockets around $20k?

I suggest you to get a Mazda3 sedan with HIDs and Navi.
