Power of Chysler Crossfire Engine
In the Chrysler Crossfire Preview in the May 2003 issue of Car and Driver Magazine, Daniel Pund writes, "..Chrysler claims its version of the 215-hp, 3.2-liter V6 somehow makes eight more pound-feet of torque (for a total of 229) than Mercedes lists for the SLK. Chrysler engineers say the engine in the SLK320 actually makes 229 pound-feet, too. Mercedes officials say it makes 221."
It seems that Pund hasn't done his homework. The Mercedes Benz SLK brochure lists SLK320 torque as 229 pound-feet. Moreover, Car and Driver has consistently stated the same 229 torque figure in articles such as the June 2000 Preview and the August 2000 comparo.
