We bought an 03 Prius new. This model doesn't get quite as good mileage as the 04 05, but for the last 1k miles we average 42.5 mostly around town driving. On a trip to Atlanta interestingly enough I average around 50-51

actually.....they are working on a hopped up prius to market to younger buyers. The amazing thing is the torque produced by the electric motor. Technically, I think its infinite at 0 RPM.

John
At 0 RPM no torque is generated at all. There must be at least SOME revolution...that's what torque is.

try it on the freeway, after getting into highway speed, floor it... it will feel like you are strapped to a v8
That was stupid.

As for tuning the Prius... I saw a post in a Prius forum with someone doing a dyno run.... the engine was setup to run very lean. So if ECU could be reprogrammed to run richer and get the traction control to be turned off
That was beyond stupid.

Let's not forget that electric cars can also become electrifying in and/or after an accident.

And yeah....floor it and you'll feel the power of a V8 that's towing an RV.

Not as stupid as the people claiming Honda vtec is more fun to drive than v8 and v10....

i believe the wires are actually fused right at the battery pack to prevent this sort of thing. i think this is a myth that has just spread out of control.

you can turbo it! haha, i'm serious.. the last turbo mag i think it was they turbo a Prius... of course a bump from 76hp to 123hp... but with its electric motor it adds another 67horsepower... nearly 200hp... pretty impressive for a Prius haha

The problem is that it handles so poorly that no matter how much power it has it still won't be fun to drive.

Sorry man, but your wrong; go check out a basic physics text. Torque is just rotational force. Think about when you are trying to unscrew a bolt that is stuck: untill the bolt comes undone, you are applying torque with 0 RPM.
