Default Project car

I came across this in a friends garage, collecting dust. He had too many projects to take on, so I took this one off his hands for him. When I was a kid, one of my dad's friends had one, and I remember complaining how unreliable it was. Oddly enough, it was very easy to get started, only needed to toss in new plugs and change the fluids and it started right up. It's still in pretty rough shape, but I'm looking forward to getting it road worthy again. My ultimate goal is to get it as close to stock as possible. It makes the S2000 look like a beast sitting next to it. The ride is stiff as hell, probably due to it running on the original suspension, but I can't complain. Enjoy the pics.

I can't blow up the pictures but the bumpers don't look right for a 74. (?) More like 72 bumpers maybe. IMO, the S2000 is a monster next to these fun little cars. The cars may not be all that reliable but they are easy to work on and a blast to drive. It looks to me like you've got a very good car to start with. You'll have fun with it.

Congrats! That's going to be fun. You'll enjoy working on it and driving it. I had a '65 TR4 that I wish I had back.

Be careful around monster SUVs and trucks - they tend not to see you.

In all seriousness, I LOVE these cars. My dad had a 59 MGA in near perfect condition, what a blast that thing was to drive. He now owns a 74 MGB. You'll have so much fun with it once you get sorted out. I don't think they're particularily reliable but from what I understand that's half the fun of the ownership experience.

From the pics that does not look like much of a project
It looks more like a car that's ready to be driven and enjoyed
Congrats
Mark me too as a HUGE MG fan

My Dad bought an MGA brand new in 1957, drove it for a few years, took it off the road and started a full frame off restoration. Daddy passed away back in 2009, and I have taken ownership of the car. The big thing left to do is the electrical system. I'm in no real rush to work on the car, but someday I will. It's off white, red leather, black wool interior, just awesome.
