Default Project drag car platforms

Hey all,

Im currently in the market for another toy car. Im about to sell my drift toy and will be dailying my ap2.

Im looking into purchasing a "drag" car. I use that word loosely as id mainly like to have a v8 in a fast, ugly, ballsy street car. Doesnt have to be pretty at all (thats why i have an s2000), just a decent platform for an ls/sbc swap.

Im not looking to build a showcar, or dump loads of money into it. I have been eyeing 3rd gen camaros based on prices around here and aftermarket support. A foxbody tops the list but those are getting too pricey for me right now.

Im receptive to all opinions, and would love to hear about others' builds. The cheaper the better.

Thank you all

FB/FC body rx7. probably get a shell pretty cheap. ls# your choice on how big you want to go and how deep you want to reach into your pocket. It will be lightweight, high power, look like an angry street car, and you will get to laugh at all the rotary people who are appalled by your "sacrilege" just before you smash them in a straight line. Also it will probably handle alright. Or honestly just any lightweight shell you can get cheap. ls has lots of aftermarket support and is pretty easy to get a hold of.

This is easy.

Foxbody 5.0, strip interior completely, slicks, 100 shot of nitrous, and there you have a 10/11 second car for quite cheap.

I wanted to go Foxbody as well, but in my area they are beginning to approach 7-8k for a decent one that would still need work.. SN95's could be had for pocket change but in order for me to go with a mustang, it would have to be a foxbody, or something pre-foxbody.. and sadly those are way out of budget for me. I would love to build a 302 someday.

Just so everybody knows, the motor I intend on using will be an SBC crate motor that I will be building. That motor will be ordered next payday to go ahead and start the build while I hunt for a good platform.

Does anybody have experience with v8 swapped s10's
? I feel like this might be a longshot on this forum but I have been heavily leaning towards finding a clean 80-90's s10 to drop the 350 into. My father used to have an s10 when I was younger, and without going into detail, I have some sentimental reasons why I would really like to build one. Can anybody give some insight who has worked on s10's or even c10/r10's etc.? Any reasons why an s10 wouldn't be ideal?

Once again I'm not looking for anything serious, pretty, or anything like that. Something with patina, old, and has character that I can drop my 350 into and beat on the weekends is all I'd like. Thank you all for your insight, it is really appreciated.

Also, I am very open to older imports like the mentioned Datsuns, rx7's, etc. But over the years I have owned so many japanese drift, road race, and autocross cars that it may just be time for something new. There's nothing wrong with them at all, and they were all great, and truth be told probably great platforms for what I'm looking for. But it is probably in my best interest to branch out and experience whats on the other side of the fence. I have been wanting an American car with a V8 for years now

If F&F taught us anything, it's that you need an Eclipse with NOS.
