Default Quality Comparison

For those of you with Honda bikes how about a few words to compare in quality terms how the S2K compares with your bike. I guess a starting point is how many times has your car been in the shop vs your bike. I have had my VFR for three years and it's never been back to the dealer.

Honda has the best quality reputation in the motorcycle industry, more comparable to European car brands IMO...and the VFR is about the highest quality motorcycle you can buy IMO - it's just sooo refined and balanced! Too bad I'm too much of a squid to own one!

Honda does have the best "reliability" for bikes... but quality? Still up in the air about that. All I know is that My F3, the F4, and the 929 ALL vibrate more than the other 3 manufacturers' offerings. Why? I don't know. And IMO, no offense to anyone, but TO ME, honda bikes are kind of boring bikes to ride comparatively speaking of course. They just seem to have all the fun engineered out of them. Kind of like the s2000 is more fun to drive than a prelude, regardless of power output. The same can be said for honda cbr bikes compared to the YZF, GSXR bikes.

Guys; You've missed the point! Compare the car to the bike. While we're at it, (regardless of make) have you had more/less trouble with your car than your bike. Seems like I've always had more troubles with my trucks than my bikes. I wonder why?

Less trouble w/ bikes, prob. b/c there are fewer parts to go wrong. It's amazing that you can get near F1 performance in a $10K vehicle that you only need to change the oil and lube the chain on!

I've had Honda bikes in the past but this is my first Honda car.
IMHO the bikes have better quality. I have taken the Honda back to the dealer more times than any car I have owned before and I have had quit a few cars. So much for Honda quality????

I wanted to "knock the dust off this old thread" and throw it out again to the many new riders we now have posting here. Again, it's a comparison of bike quality to the S2K.
It will be interesting to see if the new 04 model S2K will have design changes to address the more common complaints of the previous model years?

Bikes have less frills and that is what really goes wrong. Electrical problems are quite common in cars, in bikes there is not all that much. In cars you have wires that move, like in the doors, trunks, etc. In a bike, you do not.

Take a segway compared to a skateboard or one of the razor scooters or whatever they are called. What do you think you will have more problems with? The former is mechanical and electrical; the latter is basic mechanical components.
