Default Question about Trucks

I was thinking about getting the new Nissan Titan truck. The question is..I can't decide between a 4X4 and 4X2. This will be my first truck, so I don't really know much about it. My question is...Does getting the 4x4 sacrifice the ride quality? Also, does it make the truck much slower? The reason I'm asking is... a lot of people tell me that a 4X4 won't make much more of a difference. I will be going off roading here and there, but I'll be in the city much more often. Somebody with truck experience please enlighten me. Thank you

4WD will make if ride rougher and Reliability with 4WD is always worse when compared to 2WD and there will be more maintenance down the road as well. Will it be slower? A little, but not a whole lot. Will it make a difference? Unless you go muddin. No it won't and is worthless unless you live in Alaska.

you would need 4x4 for various things...... snow, offroading.... sometimes pulling a boat out of a slippery ramp (you can put it into low range for extra pulling power, plus have 4 wheel traction)..... all depends on what you are doing with it.

Not sure how you would ever take a 4x2 off road (you state you will be going off road here and there) unless it is just on a smooth dirt road.?

My truck has an open rear diff, so in the snow only 1 wheel spins.... there fore I have 4x4.

4x4 is very valuable anywhere it snows.

Around here 4x4 owners also pay a fairly hefty insurance premium bump as well. You might ask that question of your agent before you buy.

I live in an area that doesn't see snow and while I do drive dirt roads now and then I don't go off road often. I haven't owned a 4wd in the last 20 years and I haven't gotten stuck. I do have a truck and I tow with it often so it is used as a truck. I just don't live in an area where 4wd is needed.

The last time I went off road it was in the desert in a Toyota Pre Runner 2wd. Didn't seem to need it in the Mojave.

4wd will get you stuck further back in the woods.
That said, I wouldn't buy a 2wd truck. That's what trucks are for, and just knowing it's there if you ever do really need it is worth it. If you go near snow you will really be glad you have it.
