Default Registration ?s

I am purchasing a used car and will have it by the end of the month. I still have the S until I sell it, so I have a few questions. First, do I have 30 days to register the used car that I am buying? Second, since I still have the S registered, I wont get the rebate since I pid for registration 3 months ago on the new car. Do I just not get the money back or what will happen with that extra money? Thanks!

Ryan
from what i remember in NV
you get a 10 day temp tag
if you transfer the plates from the S to your new Used car, they should give you some credit, and based on how they calclate plate... 2% of msrp, then subtracting 5% of msrp for the next 4 years, then 2% of that.
If you transfer plates, you can no longer driver the S however.
But you should get 9 months credit, and if the ammount for the new Used car is less, i would think they either refund you, or tell you screw you and keep it.
Remember in NV, question 2 on the drivers test:
the answer
It is a PRIVLAGE to drive in NV.. privileges cost money!!!
I hope this is what you meant. Tell Import Racer Chris i said hello, and Dustin too.

Will do Marco. Not sure if you remember me or not. The first meet I went to you were there on top of Sunset Station parking garage. One more question...am i allowed to not have a car registered or insured? Since I wont be driving the S anymore, can I turn in the plates when I get the new plates for the new car? Thanks!

Ryan, we never were formally introduced, but yes i do remember seeing you on top of sunset station

I wouldnt turn in the plates, I would just transfer them, so you can get the credit.
Yes you can have a non registered car, you just cant drive it, OR have it on a street, must be on private property.
You can also yank the insurance, BUT, if I were you, id at least keep fire/theft, just in case. If you still have a loan, you must keep fire/theft, or the loan company will instill forced full coverage on "there" property

I actually just paid off the S today. Transferring the plates isnt such a good idea since my plates say, "RYNZS2K" I wonder what else I can do. Can the car be on a trailer without being registered/insured? Thanks!

Ryan, just call the DMV or metro
They should be able to answer your questions
i dont want to lead you in the wrong direction.
You still should be able to get the credit for the plate, just tell them you want the credit, turn in those plates, and say you want non personal plates..should work.
