IMHO if Mr.Honda were alive today the S2000 would not have "died on the vine"
That car embodied the true soul of Honda ...doing more with less
4cyl instead of 6 and NA instead of FI

Lately, with the push of higher CAFE standards, I do see signs that we'll see more offerings that are in smaller, lighter, and more efficient. With Honda as a current example, I have hope that this move will still include sporty, enthusiast-oriented cars in the (near?) future (e.g. CRX/Z?).
I understand both sides of the argument and agree with a lot of posts in this thread.
After everythings said and done, as a sports car enthusiast and an owner of what I think is one of the coolest cars made - its sad to see the 'halo' cars gone. I used to hate Hondas - until the S2000. Now I would gladly pick up a Civic/Accord/etc. - because of the proven reliability and quality I now associate with their products.
It seems every brand has at least one or two performance model in the lineup except for Honda. From Dodge's Viper, Chevy's Corvette, BMW M cars, Nissans GTR, Toyota with the IS-F/LF-A/who knows what next... it just seems Honda has gone too green and 'generic' and forgot about all its enthusiastic buyers and owners (which I find odd as Honda owners are about as proud of their cars as you can find).
So sure, the new stuff - well they are good cars and yes they will sell. Its just a bummer not having performance options avaiable from such a capable company with such a great history.

The NSX is dead dead DEAD. So is the NSX replacement.
Honda is just scrambling to field something because it can't run NSX MR cars in SuperGT anymore, and its looking to get an exception to homologation rules, which isn't going to happen - even if it did, it would mean Honda can run these old cars without producing anything for consumers. Honda thought it could keep running these old cars forever and the series says otherwise - if you can't make and sell a car, you can't race it.
