Chris Martin says the S2000 stayed in production far longer than Honda had originally planned, but after its sales fell, the company decided to refocus on more fuel efficient models. The current specialty sports-car in Honda’s lineup? The CRZ, a two-door hybrid.

“We have a lot of past S2000 customers who ask us regularly to bring out another,” says Martin. But so far, he says, Honda has no plans to revive it.

I hope Honda changes their mind....

Honda must have went through a severe crack smoking phase to even imagine the CRZ was in any way, shape, or form even remotely comparable to the S2000 on any level. Honestly, I can say there is not one single current Honda automotive product I would want. Somebody needs to kick the Honda execs in the balls.

I think the CR-Z started out as a sporty fwd car and then was turned into a lame hybid by corporate. It really is a bland car to drive.

Honestly I don't see why everyone wants them to bring it back. Its not going to be as good if they do. Adding side air bags, more weight, ugly styling, (see accord and other current Hondas) I'm happy with the S2000 the way it is, even if it is getting old. It will make the car that much more special in the years to come. Then again I've owned my car for two years. Some of the guys that have had their's since 2000 might want a "new S2000"

I've had my S2000 since 1999 and 122,000 miles. I'd love a new, updated replacement, even at a higher price, if it was just as fun to drive.

Alex is clearly a certified hater =P

In all seriousness, I agree with you. Besides, if honda was to build a new S whatever-the designation they would give it...It wouldn't be the same.

they could bring it back without much trouble, they have a great exterior and stout frame. they have a great gearbox and brakes, they can massage the engine with a factory turbo or supercharger for more hp...yes they can bring it back or make a new one, it will sell...and i will be interested in it too....

Technically, the new NSX is the natural progression for the s2000 owner. In 10 years, they should make more money, have more discriminating taste, and want something more luxurious, hence, the new NSX.

Meh, is the NSX going to be $120-150k+? I'm okay with the idea Honda might expect me to move from a $30k sports car to, say, a $45k one, but $100k+ more? Not realistic.

And ditto on not really wanting a "new" S2000; I have no faith the Honda of today could make something better, faster, and more fun than my car. They'd probably hybridize that crap and ruin it. And I'd have to go around saying "Yeah, I have an S2000...what? God no, not the crappy hybrid one, the cool old one, remember? No? Well, not the $hitty hybrid..."

Going from a $32k car to a $132k one is quite a leap. If I could afford such a car I'd already have a GT3. I was thinking more along the lines of $45k or $50k, considering the 2009 S2000 MSRP of $35k.
