is the RS4 REALLY worth it?

All I know is that the RS4, to me, was much more impressive than the E46 M3. I think it looks better (stock), as well, and it has a great engine note, beautiful interior, great handling, and it's pretty usable overall as a daily driver if need be. Also great in all kinds of weather.
could have changed, but ?
oh im not buying..well atleast for a longg time
i was just thinking about different cars that are in that price range
i hear so much talk about the benz and bmw but not much about the RS4
i was wondering why that is..
and i assume you guys would know more about these cars then i probably could trying to study it..
just wanted to get some info.
my hands are full still trying to learn about and get an s2k

Where the hell are you going where the 50k service on an M3 is going to run you 5 grand? There can't be that much between the 30k and 50k service outside a few oil changes (at $100 a pop, if you take it to the dealer for oil).
Just go find a German specialist and have the work done there. I've never been impressed with the quality of work dealerships do... they're one step above jiffy lube imo.

A friend has an S4 that he tried to sell recently. It's less than 4 years old, and he couldn't get over $20K for it before giving up. That's $10K/yr in depreciation. The RS4 appears to be almost as bad. At the end of the day, you have an expensive sedan that isn't any bigger inside than a Passat, just faster. And the depreciation is absolutely horrifying. I spend a half-day driving it, and boy it goes down the road like the wind. I also spend another half-day in the back seat, which I honestly thought was cramped compared to my old Accord.
And the engine is so far forward, I swear Audi would have put it the trunk of the car parked in front of it if they could pull it off. Seriously, the transmission is at the front axle. That big, honking motor is between the front bumper and the front axle. Yes, Audi's suspension and differential magic does wonders in taming the eventual, brutal understeer, but I'd prefer something with inherently better balance, like a 3-series, not to mention a whole lot less weight. I'll admit that doesn't mean much to most drivers, but I know you S2000 guys know what I'm talking about.
I think a new 335 is a much better investment of $40K. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend on your image. It's a tough sell when most people can't visibly tell the difference between the $30K A4 and the $80K RS4. The kicker? Their resale value won't be much different in 5 years

I never did understand why Audi's resale value plummets the worst out of all the Germans. I mean go look at an 06-07 A4 on autotrader, ebay, etc. Its about 22-23k all day long for a very low mileage car.

however the rs4 has amazing steering feel IMO and the soundtrack from the engine is aural sex, not to mention an absolutely brilliant interior (i usually could care less about interiors but the rs4's interior greatly excites me)
but i dont think any of these pros can justify the price. i'm all for overall performance balance as the next guy, but when i'm dishing out a good amount of cash i want a car that traps more than 110mph in the 1/4

If I'm going to buy a used BMW, I damn sure want the warranty to last me until 100K miles.
