I've sold a car there, shopped there, and have a number of friends who have purchased cars from CarMax. Dealing with them is an easy and painless process. You'll almost certainly pay more than you would for a used car in a private party sale, but it's a fairly simple operation and the cars they sell are usually in very good condition.

My brother worked there for a couple years and I bought my S2000 there. Their pricing is no haggle so you have to be careful. Usually, their prices are a little higher than what you'd pay if you haggled at another dealership, but once in a while you'll find a good deal. Dealing in the volume that they do, they do make pricing mistakes. I was shopping for a truck a few years back and was checking their website daily. They had a '99 Chevy Z71(V8, 4wd) but the details listed it as a base model V6 2wd with a price to match, about $6000 below what it was worth. By the time I got to the lot later that day, it was sitting in the "sold" line.

My father bought his S2000 there and had a good experience and got a great deal. So when I was ready to buy a new car i did the same thing. I even financed the car through them because they gave me a better interest rate than my credit union. Overall it was a good experience and i would definetly go back.

Their 5 day return policy really is no hassle. I bought an Accord there and it would grind on hard upshifts so I decided to return it. It took all of about 10 minutes. They also offered 2k more for my Accord than the dealership. The salesman even helped remove my sound equipment.
