S vs. boxster
No matter what u think, you have to admit this: The s2k is the only car that typically gets compared with other 2 seaters that are twice as expensive.
The S2000 does not have 50/50 weight distribution -- close but not perfect -- and 2 extra cylinders does not equate to hundreds of pounds. (as a for instance off the top of my head Mazda 13B rotarys and Ford 302 V8's are pretty damn close in terms of weight).
Should the S2000 have an inline 6? In my opinion yes -- this opinion was furthered on Friday when I drove my S2000 to the Seattle airport, parked it, got on my flight to Denver and drove my M coupe home from the Denver airport. I was on the highway at about 65 in fifth gear and wanted to pass some cars in front of me -- I reached for the shifter then realized...hey wait a minute I don't have to drop two gears to produce any power -- just mash the gas.

[B]As for The M roadster & Boxster I believe they utilize Mcpherson struts.... The one thing that I find soo impressive about the s2k is its ability to compete with the aforementioned cars. In many ways believe it to be a superior performer. Straight-line performance is over-rated and should not be the deciding factor. In the real world the roads do have bends.

When the S2000 was released, the German's hustled to make their roadsters competitive again ! The Boxster S and the BMW M were both a direct response to the S2000's release. They can compete with Honda when it comes to performance, but not VALUE.
Value? Completely subjective. I am sure there are people with worked over (insert car of choice here) cars that cost a fraction of the S2000 who laugh at us for spending so much to go slower.

I know that the release of the Boxster S upset some of the 911 owners, with its 911 front end and simular performace for less money. Porsche responded this year by changing the front of the 911 so that know there is a visual difference between the 2 Boxsters and the 911s. This was on Motorweek just a couple of weekends ago.
