Exactly... I did not think the S2000 was too bad for long trips. Sun exposure and sound levels were the only hard parts. The ride in the S2000 is not that hard. Car as 16" wheels on top of that. I can wear ear plugs if need be.

I suppose I would second the Z4, SLK recommendations if you want a softer S2000.

I don't find the ride that harsh, and I don't find it that noisy top down. I had to daily mine for the summer two years ago and top up driving for a few cold weeks really got old. It can be a rattle can. But once the new daily arrived, I only drive it as a second car with the top down anyway so I have no complaints. I find the seats pretty comfortable for how light and thin the seem to be. I only have 40,000 mile on mine, but it is 15 years old and flat out, nothing seems to ever go wrong with it.

real men don't complain about the noise of their car. I found the 12+ hour drive back from the dragon trip without issue. Top down for 8 hours, stereo on, earplugs in

so go buy a chrysler sebring convertible if you're uncomfortable. or if you're looking for the cool factor, a boxster.

good luck

I LOVE driving the S2000 on long trips. But, then again I started driving in an old beat up VW Bug (with that booming wind noise with windows down). Move onto BMW 2002s. My favorite was a 2002Ti. No A/C. Stiff Alpina suspension. Great road feel and engine noise. Best road car before this Honda.

I did have a 1992 Acura Legend. Very low road noise. But, I felt a little detached from the experience.

The car that I would like to try is the new Cayman GTS. Mid-engine, normal aspirated motor. One day.

IMO, the only real alternative is a Porsche Boxster, preferably a second gen (or newer) Boxster S. That's the only car I would sell my S2K for..
