Default S2000 and Miata

I have been offered a set of stock gears from an S2000 and I have a 2002 Miata and have heard the gears from a S2000 are made by Mazda and that they should fit. Anyone know if this is true?
<-- this was funny so I had to add it... LOL

I take it you are talking about ring and pinion gears? Another board member PM'd me not long ago to say that the gears for our car came from Mazda. However, I can't remember if it came from a Miata. It may have been from an RX-7.

I don't think we're all talking about the same thing here.
It seems some are talking about the rear differential (ring and pinion gears) and some are talking about the transmission. I'm talking about the diff.

why would you take a stock miata (i'm assuming this, it may not be true) and swap in a rear end that is geared to high for a car that has 100 more hp? It just didn't make a lot of sense to me.
