Has anyone raced an 06 eclipse. Was wondering how they fair against and S2000, numbers are good but are they fast?

the eclipse has power but is very heavy and is a FWD car with an open diff.

as long as you launch it right you'll be a half second ahead.

 

new eclipse = garbage

 

One is a true sports car, one is a "sporty" heavy FWD car.

They're not, last I checked most people were lucky to hit mid 14's stock.

 

Low to mid 14s is about right. FWD and the weight is a big part of it. 1/4 mile times don't tell the tale if you ran into one stock vs stock with an S2K from a roll. Regardless of it's weight, it's got a crapload more torque to really get moving from a roll. The weight becomes less and less of an issue the faster you go. I definitley think on the highway the Eclipse will take out the S2000.. Off the line up to 1/4 mile, It's a driver's race, but with an S2000, it takes a lot more abuse to run low 14s. The S2000 is definitely not a 1/4 mile car. I wouldn't try running against one on the highway though. You will probably lose.

 

they are alot faster than people give them credit for, i work for mits and have run some MODDED 4th gens, from a roll they can more than keep up with a stock s2k. i wouldnt get to cocky with them, you miss a shift or launch bad and you'll see its ass in a hurry.
