Default S2K Vs WRX

Argh, i had my heart set on the WRX (dealership ordering me one soon) but y dad is telling me the S2000 is better. What do you guys think?

I'm a student and work full time in sales and do photography on the side. The s2000's trunk is big enough for all my gear.

I don't track or anything, most likely just lower the car, add new rims, and get a better stereo for either car.

Currently have a 2007 Si sedan, and hate driving in the rain, i have low without the fender lining and drive around 50mph. I've test drove both and love the top down feeling (i already drive with my windows open)

anyone chime in and help me out with some tips?

Always loved the S2K ever since it came out and looked at getting one when I bought the Si.

I hate driving super slow in the rain, with my car, I currenly go 50 mph because of no fender lining and the neg camber. Ive driven my moms car (4WD) and absolutely love that I can drive 80mph in the rain with no hiccups or scares

I found 2 different S2K's I would buy. a 08 Black CR with 10k miles for $25k, an 09 with a hard top and turbo with 30k for $24k. I don't really need all that power in the S2K so I'd probably sell the Turbo and buy suspension, wheels and whatever is left over + cash on my end for a stereo with ipod hook up

You'll need great tires on the S2000 to make it comfortable to drive in the rain. It's light, it has wide rear tires and so it floats quite a bit in the rain. Typical max performance summer tires aren't very good with standing water.

Gotcha so if i got tires meant for rain it would be better? I was looking of running 17x9's with 255's all around. Could I drive comfortably in the rain around 70 mph?

I think whoever's paying for the car should decide what to buy.

true but them bringing up getting a S2000 has brought it back into my mind. Either way I am going to order a new WRX but it wont arrive for 6-10 weeks, and in that time I can get a S2K

I'll just add that I wouldn't use AWD as a crutch for thinking you can drive fast in bad conditions. AWD does nothing for turning or braking. I think people get a false sense of confidence/security driving an AWD car when in reality, its not helping you at all under 99% of driving conditions.

These are two completely different cars. The S2000 is more agile, better shifter, sharper steering and feels more like a little race car. The WRX is quieter, more refined, obviously more torque with the turbo, roomier and way more practical.

It depends what you want. I voted with my wallet and lean towards having two cars with completely different purposes so there are no compromises. I considered a WRX, but they are a bit soft for what I want in a sporty car. The shifter sucks too.

My 02 cents.

If you want an AWD car, I would lean towards an Evo over a WRX any day of the week. At least get an STI if you are a Suby fan...

Never had a Subie, buddy has a WRX and showed me what it can do and I was blown away. I actually hate the gearbox on the WRX. too long throws and only a 5 speed is i joke imo.
