S60R vs S2000?!
I know both of these cars are completely different with different design philosophies, but I am looking for opinions on them. Never driven the Volvo S60R, but probably will in about a month.
S2000:
Pros:
Looks, reliability, convertible, engine, rear-wheel drive, cheaper, unique, resale
Cons:
Can't even take the dog with me, summer/nice days only, no roll-over protection for me (6'4"), aggressive overstear
S60R:
Pros:
Unique, more power, just as quick, can sit 4 comfortably, awd, brembo brakes, safety, more luxurious, can use all-year round, resale? easier to mod and get power
Cons:
Front biased during normal driving, might be a tad too soft compared to S2000, reliability?, more expensive, resale?
Any thoughts and opinions? I can't drive the S60R right now b/c it isn't out yet. I've driven the S2000 a couple times and my wife and I had an absolute blast. I can tell that the rear-end is a bit quirky, but might not be too bad. I really enjoy the "tightness" of the S2000, but then again I'm 6'4" 245 lbs, so it isn't a loose fit.
My biggest gripe, and it has nothing to do with the Honda, just my dilemma of which car to spend my money on, is there is no room to take our Black Lab. She is like family, since we have no kids right now.
Thanks,
Todd

Todd -
Your initial caveat says it all. You're comparing apples to oranges.
The S2K is a phenominal roadster that is, at least in my opinion, as close as you can get to an open wheel race car for the streets at damn near any price and a screaming deal at MSRP. Its every bit as good a sports car as a Boxster S for about half the price and not much else needs to be said.
I doubt that many of us have driven the Volvo yet but I'm sure it will be a very good sport sedan. There's no way it will be as viceral as the S but that's the point. It will be way more luxurious and easy to own on a daily basis.
I suggest you decide what you want in a car. If every day drivability (esp. in Denver) is more important that putting the top back on those perfect days and taking your dog with you is more important than having a car that senses your every input than your decision is made.
Good luck.
