SF auto show
Just a sneak preview of the current auto show in San Francisco at Moscone Center. Larger than past years, lots of SUVs. Honda has nothing to speak of. Acura is still on an ugly stick march, what were they thinking with the $45,000 SUV honda accord 4 by 4 clone?
Bmw has nothing to show, the only 1 was an electric car. Porsche had an SUV and two cars...the Caymen R is like $90,000 now. Nissan did not have cars, but it did have a large drive it yourself LEAF exhibit. Hyundai is on a real roll. Larg selection of SUV at gm/chevy/caddy,etc. lots of bling bling caddy's with large variations of corvette engines. Audi has a great exhibit. Lots of cool cars, classic's, ferrari corral, etc..
Buick has a 6 speed stick only 4 door, regal GS i think, reminds me of my04 TL. Mazdaspeed 3 no changes but comes in a stick only as well. Miatas seem not to have changed and remind me of what I love most about my S2000. There is allot more.
I was most impressed with Volvo. The S60 fwd T5, S60AWDT6, and the S60 AWDT6R. European delivery still includes two round trip tickets, up to 7% off the price, pu at airport, 5 star hotel for the night, transportation to factory, and if open a tour and a meatball lunch, plus 3 weeks or so of insurance....drop on in Sweden is free, anyplace else is 800-1200. The seats, refined and stylish interior, and over all performance for the money make these sweet choice, besides you could survive being smashed between to trucks!
I have gone to this show, always around Thanksgiving, since 1968 when it was in Brooks Hall. While it pails compared to the LA autoshow or other major cities it is worth a look.

I found this year's SF Auto Show to be larger, and at the same time, even more underwhelming.
Unless I missed it, there were absolutely no concept cars from any manufacturer.
The local Ferrari club had a nice collection of Ferrari's, including the 458 Italia.
The local Los Gatos luxury car dealership had a couple of Lamborghini Gallardos (2009 and 2010), so nothing new there. They also showed off the same Aston Martin's as last year, with the exception of a V8 Vantage S. Naturally, you weren't allowed to get up close to the car unless you ask really nicely. They also showed the Lotus Elise and Evora, again.
Porsche was technically a no-show. There were four vehicles: a 911 Carrera GTS, a heavily optioned Cayman R, a Panamera, and a Cayenne. They all came from Carlsen Porsche, so it was more of an advertising opportunity for Carlsen. They were all locked, so you couldn't actually sit in any of them.
Honda and Acura had nothing significant, though they did have a new Civic Si.
There was definitely some interesting cars to look at: McLaren MP4-12C, Fisker Karma, BMW 1-series electric car, Mitsubishi MiEV, Scion iQ, Mini Cooper Coupe JCW, Fiat 500 and 500c, Hyundai Veloster, Ford Mustang Boss 302, VW New new Beetle
But there were also major no shows: the Toyobaru, even though it was shown at the LA Auto Show just last week(!); Mercedes was a complete no show; BMW M5, Ford Mustang GT500, I'm probably forgetting a few others.
