Sold the S2000
so, i'm thinking of possibly moving soon and getting a dog, and my girlfriend doesn't have a car which means i probably need to get rid of the S. also, i can't really go snowboarding or haul much of anything with the S...i didn't have this problem the past 2 years but now it might be time for me to say goodbye to this board.
i took it in to get appraised by Carmax...the tires need to be replaced in the next 1-2 months, tops. they gave me a pretty fair offer, given that car values dropped an additional ~10-15% since 2008.
i have entertained the idea of just paying cash for a beater civic from 2000-2004 and keeping the S, but i am kind of a minimalist when it comes to stuff like this...i don't like the idea of having 2 of something when i really only need 1.
i took a hard look at my driving over the past 6 months and i realized that i don't really need all of this power, nor do i get to take advantage of it ever, except for maybe merging onto the beltway. there are some good twisty roads out in VA but i rarely get the time to enjoy them in this roadster. if i do end up selling, i will seriously miss s2ki.com...i will also miss getting waves from fellow owners on the roads around DC.

I've done this 3 times. Sold AP1 for 07 Civic Si with Nav....Got bored, missed the S, got AP2. Loved it got bored, sold it for a CR. Needed more room and wanted CR to be garage/weekend car. Sucked it up and purcahsed used TSX with 30k miles for 16k. Love the TSX and love the CR even more than I ever did looking at in the garage and driving it when it's nice.
Taxes blow when you buy a car. Save yourself a few k in the long run and keep the S!

As Rick James would say "The S2000 is a helluva car." Keep your car and get a beater. I want a new car but for the price, I don't see anything I want other than the S2K. The cars I do want cost 2-4X more. I will probably never sell my car. I will sell the Fit though.
