My wife has expressed an intrest in a Solstice, so i went over and had a look. These people are foaming at the mouth. It seems that GM has quality control issues with the car and wont ship any till its resolved. Tops leak door handles
coming off, rattles ect, its the usual first year stuff. Some of the first 1000 people that ordered still havent got their cars while others who ordered later have theirs.
They talk about some dealers marking up 5 to 10 k over MSRP at some dealers.
One dealer told a customer that she couldnt have her car until another car came in.
Needless to say i told my wife she needs go look at the new Miata.

I have seen three of them up close and had a chance to walk around them, however all three were SOLD so I could not get in or pop the hood or anything like that.

The thing that concerns me most is the soft-top. It is a very finky design in the back where the sides form rear pillars. The canvas/vinyl is not stretched tight at all, and I can't help but think it is going to flap like crazy when the top is up and the car gets driven.

The other interesting thing was the Saturn Sky whick is by far way better looking is the solstace with more refined materials and it will sell for more, therefore I suspect the Sky will be Saturn's showpiece.

As opposed to the Relay? I agree that the Sky is much better looking. I've only seen one Solstice on the road so far, and it was okay, but from what I've seen of the design of the car's roof and trunk, I wouldn't buy one. I'd buy an MR2 if I didn't want trunk space, but at least I'd have a decent roadster.
