I saw a Solstice coupe yesterday. It looks damn good. The pictures made the skeptical but in real life it looks great.

Sadly, not everyone can do that.
True. So much wanton fanboyism on this site.

Torque - Like it or not, when most people say "power", they mean low end torque, and the GXP has this in spades. I remember watching in-car video of me autocrossing a Boxster S back-to-back with video from a Solstice GXP driver on the same course. His car came off of corners so much harder that it looked like it was being played in fast forward compared to mine.
This is really what stunned me the most about the GXP. And it's also what makes the GXP so fast on a track on on an autoX course: It puts its power down and accelerates so well coming out of corners thanks to low end torque, plenty of clearance for monster size tires, a good LSD, and great chassis setup. You can get back on the throttle SOOOO early. And if you get on it a little too much or too early, then you just ease off a little, and everything comes right back under control.

If there was a car I could try and roll, it would be a Toyota Echo.

07 GXP for a 2010 Camoro SS
NOT !!! I want an SS Camaro BAD but this Pontiac has been so much trouble, that I don't think I want another GM car. It's fun to drive but We can't rely on it. I should have followed threw on my complaint with the B.B.B. I'm thinking about a 2011 Mustang GT or the Dodge Challenger. When I contacted GM about their Customer Loyalty all I got back was a letter telling me that. "We can't read all of these letters, because of the large volume" . My take on that is. We didn't like what you have to say, so just put it in the trash. Am I pi$$ed ? You Bet.

Saw this post on the Solstice forum today and remembered this thread. Looks like this poor guy has experienced both the GM product design / quality issues and the GM customer service wall of deaf, dumb, and blindness.

All we know from that is he is unhappy and not really rational. Not sure I'd take purchasing advice from him just based on that post. Check out the "Tell Honda" subforum here if you want horror stories and something to warn you off a brand.

I don't why you read the post and find the guy "not rational". He said the Solstice was fun to drive but he can't depend on it. I think it sounds more like disappointment and frustration. Then he goes on to say that a letter to GM was answered with an automated reply stating that the company that sold him an undependable car doesn't have the resources to respond to customer complaints. That sounds like more disappointment and frustration.

I certainly don't blame the guy for moving on to try different brands after that experience. Hence the years of dwindling market share followed by bankruptcy. Last I checked, Honda market share was stable, they haven't been bailed out by our government, they haven't declared bankruptcy or sought protection from their creditors and their quality continues to rank near the top of the industry. Admittedly their recent lineup is getting uglier with every new model but you can hardly compare Honda to GM, especially the "old GM" that gave us the Kappa's. No doubt recent GM products like the Malibu, LaCrosse, Enclave, CTS, Equinox, Corvette, STS, and Traverse are a step in the right direction. But GM has a long road back to the point where consumers have confidence in the brand. GM would love to have the reputation that Honda enjoys.

What a stupid post.

The S2000 is one of the greatest roadsters ever made for a slew of reasons and does so much so WELL it has been a hugely successful sports car.

The motor is FANTASTIC.
The gearbox is FANTASTIC.
The seats are great.
Power top
5.5cu ft trunk space (top up or down)
HIDs

The Solstice/Sky don't offer any one or two components that are truely stand outs - instead, like a lot of GM's offerings they feature ho-hum, passable parts that function - to an extent - and come together to create a 'comparable' product.

No HIDs, crap trunk, 5spd, low reeving motor (that requires a turbo to create only 20hp more than the NA S2000), crappy top, cheap interior, crapy seats, etc.

Over the long run = the same year S2000 vs Sky/Solstice - its pretty easy to see which is the better car. Now remember the Kappa was launched 5 years after the S2000 - and 15 after the Miata. Stupid GM. LOL
Got fanboi?
