Solstice vs. 2006 Miata Comparo
Edmunds.com posted a full 2006 Pontiac Solstice vs. 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5 comparison test, where they spent a week with both vehicles plu sgot numbers. Most of the magazines so far haven't had the cars long enough to do a real side-by-side.
Edmunds gave the Miata the nod, saying "it's 10 billion times more fun to drive." Overall, though, both cars seemed to get rated fairly well, with each car having a slightly different focus. One wonders how it would turn out in a three-way comparo with the S2000 (assuming one were to overlook the price differences).
The real entertainment is on Miata.net and Solsticeforum.com. Lots of celebrating and/or wailing and gnashing of teeth. I can't believe people are being so competitive about this -- well, OK, I can, but I'd like to think car enthusiasts would just be happy there are more competitive choices available.

both models need about an additional 100HP, IMHO
It's not suprising the Miata took #1. Mazda has had 16 years practice. The Solstice will most likely give the Miata a run for its money in sales because it's a new face, it's cheaper and it's American, but Mazda is used to cranking out Miatas like jelly beans and they won't make customers get on a waiting list and/or pay a dealer markup.
