Default Son bought 2007 CBR600

My son bought a 2007 CBR600 that already had the stock rear lights gone and the plate and LED tail/brake light moved up in front of the muffler. Looks good, but there is only one row of LEDs and it's really not safe. Not nearly enough light.

Any suggestions as to an alternative set up with more light? I've just started looking around and am trying to figure out whether he is better off finding another kit or trying to add LEDs to this one. He had a shop in Florida add some LEDs to his rear peg brackets and they help, but still not enough.

Help appreciated.

There are plenty of resources to find these lights, Dennis Kirk, etc. More importantly, as his parent, just be sure that whatever he puts on the bike will be as effective as the stock lights. His life undoubtedly depends on it.

I may be a bit older than some other sport bike riders out there, then again I'm still around to type this. I never understood the desire for people to "stealth" their motorcycles. Customize and make them your own, of course. I've done that myself. But altering in any fashion that:

1. makes you less noticeable to motorists driving multi-ton projectiles with their hand up to their ear
2. lessens the overall safety of the machine
3. is just plain dumb (have you heard of stealth turn signals??)

You have to wonder if these folks are going to survive the long run.

Good luck with your sons bike, make sure he takes the MSF courses, and rides with a full face helmet and full gear, head to toe, ALWAYS. I don't mean to be preachy, but I'm a dad too. And I work in the medical profession and have a few stories I could share...

there are multiple sites that sell taillights for bikes. and like sogno said make sure he wears head to toe full gear even if it is hot out, they make gear that has good ventilation and is lightweight yet strong/durable. one of the few times i didnt wear my gear i went down and it wasnt pretty at all.

Not sure on exactly the setup your referring to, i'm pretty familiar with these bikes had a few and I sell them for Honda so i've seen about any setup you could come up with w/ customers bikes.

Personally on my 07 CBR600RR, I used the 03-06 CBR600RR tail light and cut the inside plastic to where it fits perfectly in the EXACT same spot it came on the 03-06 CBR600RR's. So it looks OEM, because in all technicality its the same as the previous generation so as far as safety goes you cant beat it unless you keep the big stock 07+ tail light.

And if you get the Clear Alternatives light, it'll have the signals built in to it which work better than most but still arent as bright as stock of course.

Not sure if I was of any help haha, if not let me know and i'll see what I can come up with.

Dad you are killing me lol.

Backstory: The squid I bought my bike from decided that the shovel of a taillight that come from the factory looks horrible (I agree) and thought that the appropriate solution was to put a fender eliminator kit on it. Though he chose one that is not too great in the visibility dept.

My dad mentioned that I had my pegs done by a company in Florida. The name is Tripage LED (tripageled.com) and I was very impressed by their work. The owner has recently designed a light specifically for the 07-08 year model CBR600rr. It is not a light from an 03-06 bike; it is a light designed entirely from the ground up to go in the tail. It looks OEM.

Froggie, I have seen the 03-06 lights and they look fantastic, though this one should fit just a bit better and will have more options as it has a custom light board.

For anyone interested here is the link: Taillight

They have a video of the features on page 39.

To all concerned with my gear situation. No need to worry, I wear a full faced helmet, a Dainese Zen Leather Jacket, Dainese Torque Out Boots, and Dainese Hellfire EVO gloves. I never go anywhere without them. Dad instilled that since an early age.

I took the MSF before I got the bike and have full coverage it. It surely is not the first fast toy I ever driven.

Believe me that last thing I want Sogno is a "stealth " motorcycle, I am right there with you. Like mentioned the squid owner had done all of this. It now has blue LED lights, an 8k HID, and a Yoshi RS-5. The light mentioned above has already been pre-ordered.

Thanks all I'll be sure to post some pictures once the light is installed.

Thank you too Dad, sometimes I wonder if it's all just talk about the loving me and such

You're definitely right on with Tristan Page. He makes quality stuff. I personally have his powdercoated rearsets, passenger pegs, LED 3rd eye, fender eliminator, and LED plate light that's integrated into the rear hugger on my '06 600RR.
