SRT-4 - considering to get one..
anyways.. i've been hearin all this crap about how slow the srt4's are.. besides that fact.. i met up with someone on these forums that owns an srt-4.. and that car is a beast!! 1sweet00SS has a 13.1 sec srt-4.. and that cars BOV is sick.. he told me that the BOV was stock.. if ur reading.. fill me in if i'm gettin the mods wrong.. if i remember correctly.. he has a mopar stage 1 turbo.. mopar exhaust.. and thats all i can remember.. but that car is a BEAST..
i've been in plenty of evo's.. and STi's.. but this is how i see it as..
srt-4 with 1sweet00SS mods.. = 22,000..
evo stock - 30k..
STi stock.. 34k..
u get my drift?? even though the car is not as well respected as the evo's or the STi's.. its the BEST bang for its buck.. i went to colley dodge right after my meet with 1sweet00SS and checked it out.. they are doing good rates on financing.. and there is a good markdown on the 03's.. they have a couple of them left.. a red and a silver..
even though all u ppl say its only a "neon".. i will be in my NEON beating stock evo's and STi's with my non costly mods that makes me go fast..

The car's not that bad. I test drove one before I bought my S. I could've bought either one, and actually recieved a better interest rate on the SRT, but still went with the S for alot of reasons.
The SRT is a cool little fast car, but I tend to see 18-21 yr olds driving them.. Thats the reason i got rid of my Si.. it was cool, but when you get to your mid 20's and older you dont really want to be driving what is labeled as a kids car.. thats just me.
the front interior is cool, but the back sucks with the roll up windows and all.

Well, the car may be fast but in reality it's still an American piece of crap. The interiors especially of American cars are generally made with crappy materials and poorly styled. It will look like you're driving a car a lot cheaper than you paid for. Even the Corvette suffers from this inattention to detail. P.S. The reliablity will suck. Just take these things into consideration, because speed (at least I hope) isn't everything.
srt4.....i would love to see peoples comments on it if it was restyled and renamed....
it's a good car for the money... i would buy one for a beater car.. i just can't help to wonder what problems they might run into when the cars are 3-5 years old or have 50k miles on them. like i said the only way i would get one would be if i drove a tons a miles a week and needed a beater. just my 2 cents

I don't like the car but you get what you pay for. The other cars mentioned have mass advantages over the neon. They are faster than the neon stock for stock. For about 6k plus a little labor the STI or the EVO can almost run 11's. Sorry but the neon is not going to do that. Sorry but the S needs about 8k just to run mid twelves (and that is if you go turbo not SC.) but keep reading for other advantages. Most of the other cars have better handling, rwd or 4wd configs, better build quality, better brakes, better suspension, do I need to say more why the other cars cost more money. It is not all about how cheap you can build a car. If all I had was about 24,000 max to spend on a car I may have considered the SRT-4. I would still stick with my mustangs because I bought a 99 cobra in 00 for 19.5k put in about oh 3k and ran 11.8. Still had 2.5 years of warranty and then sold it to buy a GSX then went for the best car I have owned. You know. An S. All in all good luck if you decide to buy one. It is all in what you not what any of us may say. I will agree that the car (for brand new) for straight line speed only, is the best bang for the buck. I still don't get where a neon brand new with stage one mods is 22k. New they sticker with all the options for over 24k then you got the mods labor and taxes and liscense.
Who said an SRT4 was slow? It's definitely the fastest for the money. That said, you get what you pay for. I've driven one and almost everything about it was substandard. And who knows how reliable it'll be in the long run.
Comparing it to Evo and Sti is not right. Evo and Sti are AWD cars with excellent handling, and their overall qualities are better. Sure, and SRT4 could keep up with them in acceleration, but it cannot compete in other things. Take them all to track and see who'll rule.
But in my opinion, ALL of them are ugly as sin.
