i was considering one, when i lived in Boston, after my 92 accord died
it could be a cool ride: its cheap, FWD, looks mean, fast in stock form, and a lot faster with some cheap mods...
but since I'm in L.A. now, the S2K makes more sense: convertible, RWD, classic form and looks

 

Actually the 30th place was occupied by an Ultralight S2k.. which is not an S2k. It's an ultralight with an S2k engine.

..and I would hardly consider One Lap of America to be a good measuing stick for handling. Try to find some actual "track" times.

I guarantee if you put the S2000 on Laguna Seca for a time attack
and do the same for the SRT 4 with the same skilled unbiased driver and both vehicles in stock trim.

The S would win, having the better track time period.

 

Yeah I'm sure there are SRT-4's out there that can easily hang with an S2K but Dodge really should have done something to set this car apart. People on an S2K board won't be too receptive to hearing their cars compared to a four door econobox (meaning a stock Neon), just like you SRT guys won't want to be compared with the same foor door econobox stock Neon.

Bottom line, apples to oranges comparison, there is nothing that these two cars have in common to compare.

 

oh WoW the SRT-4 ranked higher than NSX's, Vipers, M3, STi's, Evos, Porches, Jags. (on the lap results) i think im gonna go sell my s2k and get a SRT-4...

I had a Neon back in the day. The Neon and SRT-4 have had a remarkable amount of performance for the cost. I really have to give props to Dodge for having the balls to make the Neon ACR, a sub $14k, weight stripped, race hardened, w/ adjustable konis car.

Either way it'll never get over being a Neon. It'll still rattle like a Neon, have econobox grade materials, be FWD, have an open diff. And really the worst part is that you'll have to deal with the people on neons.org
