stealth r/t
The weights seem to be all over the place with substantially different numbers for what I would assume to be similar Mitsubishi and Dodge versions.
For instance, this site
http://www.team3s.com/FAQ-Specs1.htm
quotes a base Stealth at just under 3100lb but a base 3000GT at 3350lbs. Given the size of the car I find the later to be far more believable. The site also shows all versions of the Dodge but for the TT AWD at the same weight. The Mitsubishi shows different weights. That may be an intermediate weight for AWD non-turbo (I think they made one like that). Anyway, I strongly suspect the car was in the 3300-3400lb range even in base trim. It's a big car even compared to cars like the 300ZX so I would expect it to weight every bit as much.
Personally, if I were a parent I wouldn't give this car as a first car. It's old enough where I would worry about engine problems and from what I recall those weren't easy cars to work on (read $$ for repairs). Also, I know how dumb I was with 75hp. I don't think I really would want to see how dumb my kid would be with 222 hp and I consider my self to have been a generally responsible kid and teen driver!

Stealth trims: base, ES, RT, RT TT. Base is garbage, ES and RT has the dohc 222 hp, and RT TT is 300-320 depending on year.
The regular cars are bullet proof, they don't suffer from teh same tranny problem as the RT TT, and the RT TT models' only real common problem is the transmission (3700lbs, 300lbs of torque, awd, do the math), otherwise they really are bullet proof and are gaining more popularity. The ES and RT are really good values for what you get, 222hp for under 3 grand, but repairs will cost a bit more since they;re not as common.
But I agree with most, 300zx woulda been better since it's rwd, but the RT probably looks better.
