Suggestions for Daily Driver?
I'd like to spend less than 25K - teens would be my preference. I want bulletproof reliable and cheap repairs - so seems like a Honda, Acura, Toyota, Mazda, etc. might be where I end up as opposed to some other fun stuff out there.
I discovered a 2014 TSX manual 4 cyl. with lowish miles. Only problem is I'm not crazy about the color and it seems overpriced. Thanks for the input here. I never would have thought about an Acura but it does look like a nice rig. I'm also going to look at the Mazda 3. Again, thanks for the input, very helpful.

Is the car known to catch fire? I have never heard of that. Would be under warranty either way.
Dont get me wrong....I think the TSX is a great car too. 150K on mine and...nothing has ever gone wrong.
The front brakes of the 1st gen have issues with pulsation. The 2nd gen realpy doesn't. Same sized brakes. I think they just shifted a little more braking to the rear. Evidenced by the fact that people complain about excessively wearing the REAR brakes well before the fronts.
I replaced my stupid assed 1st gen front brakes with a 13" RL setup.
Our 2G stock brakes are holding up fine so far (21k miles).
But...the TL does have more features and the OP did say he'd benefit from AWD.
Year for year, mile for mile, condition for condition, the TL is more expensive. Were the torn up TL's you guys saw just torn up because they had higher miles? Older year? Or were they priced right due to the condition?
Not doubting you guys. Just that the TL's I've seen were in good shape.
Either way, TL or TSX....they're great daily drivers and you get a lot for the price.

You are correct on the brakes, that thing tears through rear brake pads.

How about Fiat 500 Abarth? You could a near new one at that price...

Because, once a car that sets on fire when you start it....it is only useful to keep you warm in winter for like an hour or so.

LOL. It was a joke about the reliability of a Fiat.
You do realize that every new car comes with a warranty. I laughed because you're not concerned about a fire...as long as the car is under warranty anyway.
OP wants something solid and reliable to use as a DD to get him through winter(s) in VT. An Abarth seems fun. But probably not the type of car overall that any sane person would buy.
For around $10,0000-$12,000, you can get a dependable and fun to drive 2006-2009 Civic SI. Go to discount tire and you can get a set of wheels and winter tires when they're on sale. Great bang for the buck, hard to beat imo, but is it enough for the winter? A Tundra isn't a bad choice though if you need to go through deeper snow you'll want the clearance and it's a great vehicle to go camping, hiking or to the mountains. A V6 AWD Tacoma or four runner would be a nice option as well, or a Subaru with some clearance.
