Most people that hate on vans are obviously not parents. Unless you are towing, or live where the roads aren't paved, the van is a MUCH MORE USEFUL means of transport. Sure they aren't as cool, but people who buy cars like this need them to....work, not impress people.

The only problem I had with minivans is that, at least with my inlaws', it was very difficult to drive smoothly with any cargo in it, and the load limits seemed low enough that if you put 6 adults and a reasonable amount of stuff in it, it wallowed around, dove hard under braking, and had almost zero balls. Maybe that was just their van ('03 Chrysler T&C) but when the 6 of us (inlaws, my wife and I, her sister and husband) would go on trips together, their GMC Envoy was always nicer to drive. The minivan was more comfy for the passengers, but the driver felt like he was piloting a canoe full of water on stilts.

That said, I do secretly lust for either a loaded swagger wagon, or maybe a black Odyssey with a suspension kit and a blower.

^^ Van technology has changed a LOT since then. My 08 Odyssey handled like a dream even w/ a full loaded trunk and 8 people in it. I even transported a motorcycle in it disassembled

My wife won't even entertain the thought of driving a minivan. She ended up with a pilot instead, which is basically a minivan with a different look and less utility.

It still looks like a minivan.

I rock a Flex. I like it.
