plan to have alot of the hi gas milage swap out with the new engine.
An Acura Integra GSR gets 25 city and 30 highway and weighs aroudn 2500lbs, granted it won't get Civic CX or HX levels of mpg but getting over 30 with a gsr swap doesn't seem too far fetched to me (provided mods don't include things like FI).

definitely worth it. just buy one that has a clean swap and you are good to go. i will swear by the 90's honda reliability till my dying day. i have never had a car that gave me less trouble/ was easier to work on than my 94 civic with a b20 swap. i can strongly recommend a gsr tranny vs. a b16 tranny as this will drastically effect noise levels and gas mileage during high way cruising (i remember it being something like a 1600 rpm difference at 60 mph vs. the b16 tranny). i would consistently get 38 mpg with little bouts of aggressive driving on every tank. i even peaked over 40 a couple of times.

also, all of the "fwd sucks" talk is effectively useless in this discussion as i doubt you will be getting this car to push to the limits every day and even if you were an eg civic has many advantages that make up for its wrong wheel driveness. in fact i cant think of anytime i've heard someone say "honda challenge" and "s2000" where it wasnt followed by "got beat a couple of civics" :-) .

I wish someone would do swap based only on ''efficiency.'' It would be cool to see a clean Civic EG that gets high 30's early 40mpg.

D15Z1 will go in mine when the D15B8 dies.

That will be 50mpg highway.

what do you mean? stock eg civics get that kind of gas mileage. my cx (not even the most fuel efficient but definitely the shittiest at a whopping 70 hp) averaged 45 a on a couple of tanks and my b20 swap didnt hurt it that much. in fact i cant think of anyone that i know with a swapped civic that gets bad gas mileage.

hell even my buddy with an e85 tuned 476 whp setup gets close to 20. ;-)

I have a 93 CX eg with a supercharged b18c1 swap, lots of suspension and other goodies...I'd say its completely worth it. They're super light (I'd say mine weighs less than 2100 lbs), get great gas mileage, and with the right suspension modifications handle very well. If you do end up with a swapped civic just make sure it was done right and cleanly with nothing overlooked...

Get on other forums - www.honda-tech.com, www.eghatchback.com etc...and do some research

Sorry for the confusion. My issue is not being able to buy a stock Civic EG that gets 40mpg. With the 120k+ on the clock I'd be a bit weary of optimal efficiency. What I meant was instead of everyone swapping and modding for power, they should mod for efficiency. The EG is one of my favorite Honda cars. Second to the s2000 ofcourse Modern economy cars look just like what they're called, economy cars. There is just something about an EG done right.

FORMULABMWRacer, your EG is HOT man!!!

Right now my DD is a Cherokee 4x4. It's dead reliable and the space/4 wheel drive is nice but the 15mpg is not.
What year Cherokee, how many miles, where is it, and how much are you selling it for???
