I would love to see an RX-8 w/ the MS3's engine. Screw tradition, I'd never buy a rotary-engine car. The Wankel is the main reason I've never considered an RX-8, which otherwise seems like a pretty nice car.

I wish the rims looked better.

I have a set of RX-8s on my Mazdaspeed3.

http://reviews.cnet.com/coupe-hatchback/20...7-33241009.html

"The EPA rates it at 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway, not very impressive for the horsepower. Our numbers were worse, though, with the car showing just 11.7 mpg for mixed city and freeway driving, before we did our zero-to-60-mph tests"

...Thats not very good...

Well, driving an S2000, you really wouldn't know what torque is to begin with

I would love an RX-8 if Mazda could just fix the low mileage and bad styling. The car is great to drive and I like the 4 door coupe concept. I like the character of the motor (or at least I don't mind it). However, I just can stand getting that kind of poor mileage and I don't like the looks of the car. I don't expect wonders but plenty of more powerful cars deliver better mileage (which I do care about in a daily driver) and it's just not a pretty car. I'm willing to forgive ugly in something like a WRX sedan (the old one, not the new one) but not as much in something like the RX8 which is supposed to be a sports coupe, not a sedan. I'm even less likely to forgive ugly when the ugliness is all superficial. The basic proportions are right and the car could be good looking with new sheet metal and redone details.

+1

The concept and proportions are spot on, but the styling and engine choice killed this car IMO. Drop the MS3 engine in it and update the styling to something more sleek and less stubby and weird looking and I would seriously consider this car when its time to let the S go (need 4 seats, child on the way, etc).

if you go on the rx8 boards you'll see threads pop up all the time from n00bies complaining that their real world MPG is much worse than the advertised

for that little power that kind of mileage is unacceptable, IMO. hell a c6 z06 with 450whp gets about that much lol
