Test drove the 350Z
hey hey... i don't like the 350z at all, if i have 35 grand, it'll be a s2k, no competition. The only thing i like about it, is the extra hp, but i would rather get a domestic if i wanted the extra hp.
I almost had a test drive in a Z going today before the dealership sold the last display car (the one I was sitting in) and I had to hop out so the new owners could drive it home... burnt orange with orange leather Performance pack with nav... utterly sweet. Felt REALLY good, fit me just right... I like it ^__^
When I tie the knot later this year (knocks on wood), I will be looking to replace her car with a G35. Nice car. Dont like the front, but the back is awesome, and its nearly the same power with a back seat. Plus, its an infiniti so I can be a pretentious bastard along with my colleagues.
I am thinking of buying an S2000. for a while. I read most of the comments about the Subaru, and the z. I own a M3 covertible and a GS430. I always liked the s2000 but I was not willing to pay a premium it goes against my grain. I thought about the corvette but for some reason I see alot of the vettes on the market after a year. I like the sc 430 for the hard top but it is getting close to $60k. I live in Florida but travel to SC every week and half. The lexus is a smooth ride the BMW a noisy one but you can push it. What to do? The
My neighbor recently bought a 350Z. A few weeks ago I was over his place checking it out and took it for a lengthy test drive. I found it to be a nice comfy G.T. with good power but not as impressive as I thought it would be. I found the steering not as communicative as the S2000's. The shifter feel also falls well short of the Honda. In turn he took my car out for an equally lengthy drive. His response? "God I love your car."

engtales, I see this is your first post - welcome. However it would have been better to post this as a new thread in "car talk" (you can hyper link to the "car talk" page from the top of this thread and select the "new topic" button).
Unless of course your post went on to describe your feelings with regards to the 350Z.
On - Topic
Don't listen to the nay sayers, there is nothing wrong with owning a popular car, however as is the case with any new car consider waiting for the second year (If you can wait that is - I suck at waiting). So the best solution is to go for the tried and tested S2000.
Either way you will have a car to be proud of.

The G35's a great car and almost as good at the Z. In the new sports compact magazine. They compare the G35 and the Z guys should read it it's interesting. They say that the G35's more responsive even with its longer wheelbase and 166 more lbs. The 1/4 miles times are pretty close. The G35 ran a 14.2 while the Z ran a 14 flat. Pretty crazy how our little hoda with a little 4 cylinder and run close to what that 3.5L six runs.
Z is definitely more popular here in Japan than the G35. Not so sure about the rear end of the G35, but the Z looks like a Porsche and is just as sleek. Seems like the US prefers snob appeal (j/k).
The Zs are getting faster now that they are maturing with age (gets better as it gets older). You definitely can't go wrong with a Z. Most owners still have the same Z they bought more than 30 years ago (think 240z with chevy engine, what a monster).
One thing I like about the current Z is that its an NA with quite a lot of power, but in about a year's time you could easily install FI to give it that extra power. That seems to be the trend here already as some of them had already undergone the "turbo operation". Despite the government's effort to promote more NA cars, the revheads here simply can't stay away from the temptations of having turbos. I guess things progress faster here than they do everywhere else.
350z, great car and absolute head turner. For a 2+2 I would take a look at the G35 or RX8. G35 is just a 2+2 Z and can be modded the same way (beauty of having similar engines :-) ).
The RX8 looks stunning, though not sure about the doors and the engine. Not a fan of rotary unfortunately. If it was good, then we would see more rotary cars, which is not the case.
