Tire #'s
Ok guys I sold my s2k for an Evo and it has 18in privat wheels on it. Right now I have Dunlop Super sport race tires on it. They are 245/35/ZR18's. I am having a real hard time finding tires of that size. I cant even find that Dunlop makes those tires anymore. I understand that I have to 18 in tires for the wheels but what do the other #'s mean and do those have to be exact for the wheel?
18 is the size of the wheel in inches.
245 is the width of the tires in millimeters.
35 is the height of the sidewall in percentage of the width of the tire. i.e. 35 indicates the height of the sidewall is 35% of the width of the tire (245mm) which calculates to be 85.75mm.
ZR is just the speed rating of the tire meaning the max speed the tire can be used.

according to tirereack.com, here are the tires they carry in the size you're looking for. the goodyear eagle F1 GS-D3 and the michellin pilot sport PS2 are both excellent tires and are worth getting for your car. the dunlop super sport race tires are probably designed more for dry competition use and is probably not the ideal tire for everyday use. the F1 GS-D3 and the PS2 on the other hand are superb performers in both dry and wet conditions and is more appropriate for everyday use.

anyone else think it is f'ing retarded that they don't use a sidewall height in millimeters like they do for tread width? Anyone know the history of why they do it w/ the aspect ratio? Always thought it was stupid, but maybe there is some reason for it...
