Default Took a ride in a new M5

Just thought I'd share, one of my customers is always dealing in high end cars and saturday he stopped by the shop with a new m5 silver on dove interior. I took a quick spin with him and I was just floored with the car (as I should be for the price I suppose). It's just awesome how a car that can act so civil in everyday traffic can be such a jekyll and hyde when you want it to be. Slamming on the gas with the traction control on throws you back in the seat with so much authority. Traction control off is basically just for novelty when the roads aren't in perfect shape, the tires just lit up at 40mph when the throttle is down with it off. I wasn't as suprised by the motor since I was expecting that kind of punch from a v10, but the handling was ridiculous! We took an off ramp from an interstate with some ridiculous momentum, the car just stuck in and held it. It's hard to describe but it was really amazing to feel from such a large car. Aside from that the transmission shifts in an instant, and singing the motor up to the rev limit (8000+ rpm) delivered such an awesome note.

Overall I'm totally impressed with the car, and it's given me even more inspiration to keep pushing through these college years haha.

If you thought that was badass. The 2008 is to get a VERY significant power bump. At least 550hp coming out along with minor aesthetic changes.

yeah I heard on the 07 simply putting headers on it gets you like 50+ to the wheels - obviously a lot of untapped potential there...

Hmmm...the '08 M5 is on BMW's website w/ no mention of a HP bump - not that it needs one. I've driven my friend's M5 several times, and I love it. Our wives aren't so enthusiastic about it (his wife would be thrilled if he'd sell it).

HOLY CRAP. Dude, I assume the expense isn't a big deal given that he can swing an M5 in the first place, but the annoyance of having to stop and get gas a couple times a week would get old FAST. Between fill-ups and warranty repairs, you'd never actually be driving the car!

Don't forget frequent and expensive tire changes.

My friend also blew his engine, though BMW replaced it under warranty.

I think you are mistaken with your information because the next gen 5 series will get 550HP to the M5 (2011-2012).
