203.7 mph. El Mirage Dry Lake bed . SCTA event. Turbo charged Suzuki Hayabusa. Street legal, pump gas. Ridden monthly. Best $17,000.00 I have ever spent. All cages are slow compared to this scooter. Ride hard, ride fast.

Can't touch WFO's record. I doubt many people can. I was once on a used K-bike test ride with a BMW shop owner and he wanted to show me what they would do. We had it up to an indicated 135 MPH on highway 280 near San Jose. The bike was smooth as glass (and its tiny fairing worked great over 100) but it wasn't relaxing since I was sure the CHiP's would have our @ss.

I would GUESS that my top speed would be around the 135 mark? At that speed who looks at the speedo? Not me! I recall that the exhaust tone said there was more power available, but the little voice in my head started saying "cool it". I did. I always try to listen to that little voice!

119.5 indicated. Just can't seem to get to 120 on the Monster. One of the disadvantages of the naked sportbikes is that they're not that fun to ride above about 80 mph and have a lower top speed than the bikes with fairings. But they're wonderful at the speeds I regularly go.

I've reached 150mph a couple times (pegged to redline on my F3). A dragonfly hit my arm at the speed the last time, so needless to say, I haven't done it in a while.

160 downhill on a 01 R6.
150+ on a R1 with a LOT left but no road.

I myself perfer acceleration over top speed, it's just sometimes that I find myself enjoying the acceleration long enough that I have hit high speeds =]

actually, it is a LOT safer speeding on a bike (if you know what you are doing) than in a street car. Most street cars are not engineered to cancel lift at highspeeds resulting in a dangerous situation where some of the wheels will not have much, if any traction. On a bike, the physics are different as it relys on a gyroscope effect to stay upright.

I travelled from Louisville KY to Cincinnati OH on a r1 hitting 140mhp or so 40-50 times using bursts of speed between paks of traffic. As soon as I got caught up to traffic I would blend in and scan all cop stop areas. And when the coast is clear... buh bye.
