Default Trade an '06 STi for an LS1 FD?

Hello, folks.
I would appreciate some opinions from you guys who know better about STis and FDs.
A friend of mine has an '06 STi w/ FMIC, exhaust, BOV, Cobb tuning(custom tune), Defi gauges(for show mostly... he's got 5 gauges with controler).
He also has some audio upgrades(speakers, sub, Clarion display)
Currently has over 30k miles on it.

He got an offer to trade his ride w/ an LS1 swapped '93 Mazda RX-7.
My friend says it's in stunning condition w/ a fresh paint job(gunmetal) that's been recently done.
Stock wheels, suspension, no body kits whatsoever.
The guy says the LS1 has 40k miles on it. And he's offering an even trade.
Do you think it's worth it?
I honestly don't know the value of an LS1 swapped FD, so your help would be appreciated.

Thanks, guys.

EDIT:
Here's more information about the FD
Oh, and my buddy's car has header & up-pipe as well.

The car is built to rev to 7500+ rpm and the bottom end is proven to hold up to 800 or so hp. My plan was to run a 150hp wet shot of nitrous on the car eventually which would put the car around 600 rwhp which is enough to get the car into the 9's with traction given the cars 2700 lb curbweight. The car is fully street tuned and can be daily driven if you want. Judging by similar setups, this car should make over 430 rwhp with ease. The car has over $25,000 invested into the swap and the paint.

Likely not. The going rate for FD LS1's remains around 20 grand in fantastic shape.

Keep the STI. It's worth more, can be made just as fast or faster, and will likely be more reliable.

I agree. Some people just love bottomless money pits. To each his own.

06 WRX > gas guzzling muscle car engine anyday. He's offering an even trade because he knows that a normal person would ask for cash on top. Seriously .. I don't care if the LS1 swapped FD can run in the >10 quarter mile bracket. If he isn't willing to put some cash on top, its a no deal foo!

hahah. the ignorance of most import owners as to the LSx is funny. heres a motor more than double the size of most jap engines. makes more power in stock, NA, boosted forms and still get 30+mpg on the hwy.

most LS1's can crank out 500whp easily with as little as heads/cam. most make 600whp+ on 6-7psi of boost. and last but not least most of all these engines are all over 100K miles, some into the 200k miles areas. for the cost of a 500whp STi, you could come close to DOUBLING that whp number in an LS1. get a grip guys, this "low-tech" OHV, 16valve v8 will DESTROY most imports with hardly a breath.

the ls1 also wieghts less then just about every jap four banger produced.

sincerly,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't LS1 vettes get much better gas mileage than STi's? Yes, I know that LS1 mpg numbers are a bit skewed because of an insanely tall overdrive gear, but I would hardly call it a "gas guzzling muscle car engine," especially when compared to a very thirsty turboed 4 banger.
