Default Trouble with 5th gen Prelude

Hey everyone.

I have a 98 prelude with about 101k I drive daily to keep miles off the S. It's been pretty much bullet-proof since I bought it. Today, it started to sputter and lack power off and on during about 10 miles of driving. I checked all four spark plugs, tried removing each plug cap to see if it was a bad cylinder, and confirmed that wasn't it. The most logical thing I can think of is the fuel filter. It's a PITA to change it, so I'm waiting until tomorrow to attempt it.

If it is not the filter, does anyone have a solid idea what might be the next path to attempt? It isn't the clutch, plugs, compression, ect.

Sorry, no clue! A mechanic will be able to figure it out.

it could be anything. if you have a check engine light, then scanning the codes will be a good place to start. otherwise, good luck...

Well if it aint the plugs:

all it could be:

coil packs
ECU
some sensor

fuel injectors

pretty much sums it all up. all an engien needs is fuel and spark. (and compression, but you sadi the plugs were clean = no oil/water in)

with the fuel filter, make sure you can get to it from underneath the car. And make sure you have a 14mm crows foot line wrench. and DO NOT bend the fuel line, its not easily flexible, but if you've never changed that fuel filter, your going to have to put some elbow grease into it. If ou need any other help let me know.

I spent hours trying to put a Honda OEM fuel filter back on, and put on an aftermarket one from pepboys in 10 minutes (just an option if you want)
