No, the only way it would work is if you used a thin film of platinum all over, either that or platinum-iridium. I use that material to make scanning tunneling microscopy tips:



Pt is pretty refractory and it doesn't tarnish. Anything else, Cr, Al, etc., they are all going to darken over time as the native oxide grows in. Now it just so happens that the thin film is going to weigh a lot, but nobody ever did bling without being phat.
