I went through a "I think I want something more torquey" phase, too. I went as far as taking off my supercharger to prepare to sell the car. I strongly considered selling my car to pick up a C6 vette, E46 M3, or e92 335i. Then I looked at the maintenance on all of those and said F it and I'm still driving around in my S2K.

My advice? Take $12-14k and buy an AP1. Spend the rest on stroking the motor and making torque, and if you have any money left over spend that on coke to blow off of strippers asses.

Cheers =)

Fair enough, but it's not that uncommon for Porsches to rack up 200K miles, and something like ~75% of all Porsches sold in the US (since ???, not sure of the date, but something like 50 yrs.) are still on the road.

Looking at all the old Porsches owned by fellow PCA members, they seem to age pretty well when given proper care & maint.
Come on man, that's just marketing stuff.

75% of old Porsche or so are still on the road only because Porsche owners like to keep their cars as mint as possible. I don't know of a lot of Porsche owners who use their cars as beaters and don't care if the body starts to rust or if the seats are ripped, etc...

Every 70s-80s-90s Porsche I see has had a TON of work done on it to keep it up as fresh as brand new. It's not like Porsche cars are just THAT better built than other cars. If anything I have been very disappointed with the build quality in my Boxster S, especially compared to my old 2003 S2000.

I'll take your word for it since you own one, but my understanding of a couple things:

-10w60 ain't cheap. Dealer oil change is ~$400 unless you DIY
-Valve adjustment every 15k

I dunno, too rich for my blood
Would be nice if people wouldn't spew B.S. when they're clueless.

$400 oil change for an E46 M3? Try $120. Maybe $150 at some dealers. But can be done for $80 at reputable indy shops. This isn't a Ferrari.

Valve adjustment every 15K? Try 50K.

Get a late 90's early 2000's 911
good point, seen these in the low 20's...budget permitting, i'd recommend a 02 or higher 911...3.6L power plant, 3 spoke steering wheel, turbo headlights, non-boxster fascia, glovebox and more structural rigidity...what else i'm missing?

50000 mile for a valve adjustment sounds reasonable. but the cost is still not reasonable at dealer.
