Why isn't it an R36? 250hp for $32+K isn't the most compelling. 280hp would be better.
Sam
I'd rather save $8,000 and go with a loaded GTI. Then add a stage II chip, turbo-back exhaust, and intake. It'll be faster, lighter and more importantly, cheaper. No, it's not AWD, but you can keep the 6 speed MT.

Is it me or is that kinda slow for a AWD car with 250 hp? I thought the older one was faster than this...
Also, the reason they did not fit the 280hp 3.6 engine is due to the fact that the DSG tranny is not able to reliably handle anything over a ~260hp/~260tq setup. That is what I was told by a few VW guys that had talked to or worked at German performance shops here in town. VAG is working on a second-gen DSG that will handle much more, but it obviously is not out yet.
So with the A5 R32, you are literally getting a totally maxed-out car in just about every sense of the word. I think the very reason why everyone is saying it'll be a let-down is because you can't mod it for fear of breaking the DSG. And as the old saying goes, the only good Vee-dub is a modded Vee-dub...or something Vortexian like that.

One thing I do know is that the A4 R32s hold their value like crazy. Maybe the A5 version will be different?...

Yes, the older one was faster than this. 300lbs lighter, different suspension, but same motor.
This new one is exactly $10,000 more than I paid for my R32 new in 2004. Funk dat!

If they have trouble with how much power the DSG can handle then just chuck it and give us a 6MT and more power!
