Default Very Cool Nav system

http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-10-...ze-munich.html

(PhysOrg.com) -- A navigation system making use of something called "True3D" technology has won the top prize in this year's European Satellite Navigation Competition in Munich, Germany. The ESNC is an international innovation contest that awards the best ideas for applications in satellite navigation. There were 401 proposals from almost 50 countries. The winner was selected by an international panel of experts. The company that designed the system, Making Virtual Solid (MVS-California), entered its True3D Head Up Display & Navigation System, which won the Galileo Master 2011 grand prize of 20,000 Euros.

i dont see how its complicated.. it would work just like a standard nav system.. you just wouldnt have to look away to see what was going on..

Would be cool for just marking whatever destination you entered in the nav. Reminds me of video games where there is a floating marker on the screen pin pointing your target. I wouldn't want my view to be convoluted with corporate logos though.

in the vid they have just the virtual line or whatever that you follow. it took me a min to even see it but its def cool follwing a line like that..

I can see plenty of "average drivers" i don't consider someone who is on an internet forum for their sports car an average driver. That said if you have logos going across your windshield some of these "non multitasking" people will surely run into someone b/c their eyes were fixated on strabucks and they began salivating.

that could be said about nav systems in general.
at least this way, they dont have to look away from the road..
if anything, its safer and odds are you could prob turn those off..

Excellent.

And to think I woke up this morning with the revelation: "You know what my driving experience needs? MORE CORPORATE LOGOS!"

Also, does anyone else see a problem with the red line drawing your vision up and away from... um... the road?

GTFO with that isht.

Virtual building and road signs? I'm with him, GTFO. If I want to find gasoline then I'll touch a "find gas" icon. Same for a hotel or coffee. I like HUD for that guiding line, maybe a (small)compass, and maybe a "next turn" distance & name indicator.
